The Department of Landscape Architecture in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Texas Tech University (TTU) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Instructor of Landscape Architecture position for the 2024-25 academic year.

The Department seeks a colleague with diverse skills, knowledge, and experiences who will advance the landscape architecture discipline, promote critical and creative design approaches, and integrate social, technical, and biophysical processes in the design of resilient landscapes with spatial experiences that inspire and delight.

This appointment is for one academic year, with the opportunity to extend it with successful performance and continued funding. This is a non-tenure-track position.

Required Qualifications:
Required qualifications at the time of hire:
1. Applicants must have an accredited professional degree in Landscape Architecture.
2. Applicants should demonstrate evidence of teaching landscape architecture studio and lecture courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
3. Applicants should demonstrate strong landscape architecture skills and knowledge and have an emerging or established research and teaching emphasis.

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
1. PhD, US professional licensure, or established/extensive track record of teaching.
2. A strong record of professional practice.
3. Evidence of successful teaching in landscape architecture.
4. Record of peer-reviewed research and/or juried design awards at the regional, national, and/or international level.
5. Evidence of capacity to generate external funding and/or impactful research agenda.

About the University, College, and Department:
Established in 1923, Texas Tech University is a Carnegie R1 (very high research activity) Doctoral/Research-Extensive, Hispanic-serving, and state-assisted institution. In addition to the Department of Landscape Architecture, the Davis College is home to the departments of Agricultural and Applied Economics, Agricultural Education and Communications, Animal and Food Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Plant and Soil Science, and Veterinary Sciences, along with multiple research centers and institutes. For the most recent academic year, the College had 2,687 undergraduate and 502 graduate students and generated approximately $14.4 million annually in extramural research funding.

The Department of Landscape Architecture has a long history of excellence. The Bachelor (BLA) and Master (MLA) of Landscape Architecture programs are fully accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB). Support of the Department by its alumni and industry groups in the state is very strong. The Department is an essential contributor to the research enterprise of the Davis College and has a strong track record of involving students in service-learning activities and engaging the Lubbock community through outreach efforts. The Department has long-standing relationships with other campus programs, including the Huckabee College of Architecture and the multi-disciplinary Land Use, Planning, Management and Design PhD program.

The Department has facilities in two buildings on campus. The CASNR Annex is home to department and faculty offices as well as classroom, computer lab, printing, plotting, and digital fabrication spaces. The Landscape Architecture studio space is located in the newly renovated Agricultural Pavilion, one of the first buildings on the Texas Tech University campus.
