Pre-Conference Workshops: (25ppl Max each workshop)
We encourage you to arrive early to the conference to attend one of our pre-conference workshops.
Wednesday, March 26th:
Choose one of the workshop options on Wednesday afternoon:
Leading the Way Administrators Workshop: (1:30 – 4:30, $50) This workshop focuses on giving administrators the tools to effectively lead their program and gain insight on ways to improve their leadership and the program as a whole
LAAB Accreditation Workshop: (1:30 – 4:30, $50) This workshop covers a variety of topics to assist programs through the LAAB accreditation process. Great for any academic programs preparing for an upcoming accreditation review or programs interested in accreditation.
Landscape Journal Workshop: (1:30 – 4:30, $50) The editor in chief will share insights and advice on how to get your scholarship published. Best practices, how to write an effective article title and abstract, are interspersed with writing exercises and group discussions.
Conference Field Trips/Excursions:
Wednesday, March 26th:
Portland Japanese Garden Tour (2:00pm to 5:00pm, $65 – 35 person capacity)
Join us for a guided tour exploring the beautiful Portland Japanese garden. When His Excellency Nobuo Matsunaga, the former Ambassador of Japan to the United States, visited Portland Japanese Garden, he proclaimed it to be “the most beautiful and authentic Japanese garden in the world outside of Japan.” On the tour we will explore this urban oasis and recognize its part in bringing tranquil and restorative spaces to the public.
TriMet Affordable Housing Redevelopment Projects Tour (2:00pm to 5:00pm, $25 – 30 person capacity)
Join TriMet's landscape architects to tour several different sites along Portland's public transportation network to see how TriMet navigates new projects in historical areas and how affordable housing is considered and integrated in public transportation projects
Saturday, March 29th:
Portland Pearl District Green Streets Tour (2:00pm to 5:00pm, $25 – 30 person capacity)
The City of Portland is well known for its stormwater management and green infrastructure design integrated into public infrastructure and open space, such as “Green Streets” projects. This Pearl District Green Streets tour, which will be featured in the February issue of Landscape Architecture Magazine, is guided by Katherine Sheie of Lango Hansen. Several projects will be showcased within walking distance in the historical Pearl District in the heart of downtown Portland.
Tour to the Woodmont Natural Park & Lake Oswego (2:00pm to 5:00pm, $45 – 50 person capacity)
Hop on the bus and join the designer of the 2024 Green Ribbon for Climate Action award-winning site - Woodmont Natural Park. Guided by the project designers from Mackenzie, we will learn about how preserving native habitat and upcycling onsite materials can regenerate local ecosystems and reduce carbon emissions. In addition, we will tour a newly completed public space, Rassekh Park, featured a skate park and a 10,000 sf playground under construction to serve the diverse community. On the way to Woodmont, we will check out the Lake Oswego City Hall and Police Station that is recently completed with several sustainable design features.

CANCELLATIONS & SUBSTITUTIONS:
Conference registrations can only be cancelled by submitting a request via Email to staff@thecela.org Substitutions are encouraged and must be submitted in writing.
REFUND SCHEDULE:
Until January 31, 2025: Full refund, minus $100 administrative fee
February 1 - 28, 2025: 50% refund
March 1, 2025 and after: Substitutions only
No refunds or credits will be given to “no shows”

Hotel Information:
The conference is being held at the Hyatt Regency Portland. We have reserved a block of rooms for CELA conference attendees. Rooms start at $249 a night. This rate will be available through March 9, 2025 and is first come, first served. We do not guarantee a reservation within our room block.
