The School of Planning in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati is seeking candidates for a Visiting Professor in Urban Futures with the Landscape Architecture Program for academic year 2021-2022. The Orville Simpson Center for Urban Futures in the College of DAAP supports the integration of visionary and interdisciplinary urban studies into course curricula. The Visiting Professor’s teaching and scholarship will contribute to the School’s initiatives and programs such as the Urban Futures Initiative, the Vacant Lots: Occupied Program, and the MLA program’s Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES®)-based curriculum and scholarship.
The successful candidate will be involved in the School of Planning’s collaborative environment for teaching and scholarship with primary responsibility for teaching studios and seminars in the Master of Landscape Architecture Program. The ideal candidate will have teaching interests that will contribute interdisciplinary approaches for the planning and design of environmentally and socially sustainable communities of the future.
The School of Planning is interested in candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to working with diverse populations, with the skills to teach contemporary approaches to investigation, visualization, and community engagement, and the ability to inspire students. We seek candidates who can work effectively and collegially in an interdisciplinary university setting.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field with prior teaching and/or practice experience related to visualization and community engagement.
Ideal Qualifications: Documented scholarship and teaching or practical work experience in a field related to specific course content or topics related to School of Planning initiatives. Candidates with PhDs and/or licensure in landscape architecture are encouraged to apply.
Terms of Appointment: Full-time Faculty for a 12 month, three semester term as a Visiting Professor. Position is for one year and potentially renewable for another. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Appointment start date is August 15, 2021.
