Description:
The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture (HLA) at Oklahoma State University (OSU) invites applications for a Lecturer for one eleven-month academic year starting July 1, 2023. This position will serve as a Lecturer of landscape architecture with 100% teaching effort. The successful candidate is expected to deliver course material related to landscape architecture (LA) design and visual communication within a traditional classroom and studio environment. Candidate will work closely with the HLA Department Head, LA Program Director, and the faculty team, drawing from and adapting established curricular content. Review of applicants will begin after March 15, 2023 with an appointment period from July 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024.

Responsibilities:
The Lecturer of landscape architecture with 100% teaching efforts will teach courses independently and provide support to other faculty in the studio setting. Course responsibilities for the Fall 2023 semester include Introduction to Landscape Architecture (LA 1013); Visual Communication I for Landscape Architecture (LA 1213), which covers traditional and hand graphics; and support to faculty in studio courses. Teaching responsibilities for the Spring 2024 include Visual Communication II for Landscape Architecture (LA 1223), which covers digital graphic techniques and applications; and Studio 3: Recreation and Open Space Design (LA 2525). The candidate will be expected to organize and lead field trips and site visits in accordance with course content. The candidate will engage members of the professional community to serve as jury members and guest lecturers as appropriate. The candidate will work cooperatively with the landscape architecture faculty team. Regular engagement in professional development opportunities and activities will be expected as well as completion of all required Departmental, Division, and/or University level required annual trainings.

Required qualifications:
Applicants for the Lecturer of landscape architecture with 100% teaching efforts must possess a first professional degree in landscape architecture such as the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) from an accredited program by the time of hire. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in landscape architectural design and visual communications, including both hand and digital graphics. They should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a passion for teaching and mentoring.
Preferred qualifications:
Candidates with a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) or those with a BLA degree and more than three years of professional experience is preferred. Previous experience that demonstrates successful teaching and mentoring, and the ability to use traditional and innovative teaching techniques is preferred. Candidates with professional licensure and certifications is preferred.
Salary:
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
