Interdisciplinary Design Fellowship

UBC School of Architecture + Landscape Architecture

The School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (SALA) at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) seeks to appoint a Lecturer to a two-year term as an Interdisciplinary Design Fellow beginning August 2022. Early career applicants from the fields of architecture, landscape architecture and urban design with a demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary education, design and/or research are encouraged to apply.

With intent to stimulate productive discourse across SALA’s academic programs, each two-year fellowship cycle is framed by a theme intended to inform teaching, research and creative practice discourse in the School. In 2022-2024, the inaugural theme REPAIR is intended to uncover the diverse forms of maintenance and care that sustain the contemporary built environment. This might include, but not be limited to, topics in environmental systems, spatial justice, materiality, equity and engagement.

We seek applicants whose research engages design within and across this broad notion of repair and demonstrates that they can play a central role in this discourse. Candidates must hold a terminal degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Urban Design or demonstrate equivalent experience. Eligible candidates must have completed their terminal degree after May 2012. Application materials (cover letter, CV, work samples and optional sample course syllabi) are due January 10, 2022.
