Distinguished Visiting Scholar/Practitioner

Utah State University LAEP

The Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at Utah State University invites applicants for the Canyon House Residency’s 2023/2024 Distinguished Visiting Scholar/Practitioner.

The Canyon House Residency was established to bring to campus excellent practitioners and scholars in landscape-driven design and planning disciplines to engage with our students. Candidates in all fields are welcome. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute through their practice and research to the diversity and excellence of our academic community. The Distinguished Visiting Scholar/Practitioner may be variable in length, but at least a one-semester residency position is preferred, with commensurate residence and salary (non-benefitted). Residence in the Canyon House may be extended beyond the position.

Further information on our programs, campus environment, and the Canyon House may be found at www.laep.usu.edu, www.usu.edu/about, and www.usu.edu/canyon-house-residency/.
We intend to make an appointment for either Fall 2023 of Spring 2024 semester.

2. Contribute to LAEP’s commitment to support the participation of women in the profession as a mentor and exemplary role model with whom our students may engage.
3. Amplify our students’ exposure to the current practice of landscape architecture and/or environmental planning through the recipient’s expertise and experience in the field.
4. Provide LAEP’s undergraduate and graduate students with progressive instruction and professional training in the recipient’s realm of practice.

Qualifications:

Applicants must hold at least one degree in landscape architecture, planning or a closely allied discipline. Preference will be given to applicants who possess substantial records of scholarship and/or practice, who possess professional licensure in planning or landscape architecture, and/or who have previous teaching experience. Applicants who lend diversity to our faculty are highly desired.
