Assistant/ Associate Professor in Landscape Architecture

University of Idaho

The College of Art and Architecture (CAA) at the University of Idaho (UI) invites an application for one full-time Tenure-Track Assistant/ Associate Professor position in Landscape Architecture.

We invite an applicant who will add meaningful breadth to our faculty. Successful individuals will have a clear and inspiring vision of contemporary Landscape Architecture education, scholarship, and practice.

The mission of the College of Art & Architecture (CAA) and the Landscape Architecture (LA) program is to nurture professionally accredited, studio-based programs, which connect students with communities to gain immediate experience addressing real-world problems. To these scopes, outreach and engagement activities with communities are integrated with teaching to prepare students for leadership in the design community with a commitment to planning, design, and stewardship of the natural and cultural environment. While contributing to the above goals, faculty should develop written scholarship to both deepen and make explicit the connections between their pedagogy and practice, articulate a clear research agenda, and demonstrate a commitment to producing peer reviewed work.

Established and operating as an independent degree program since 1969, the UI Landscape Architecture Program offers an LAAB-accredited professional Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design (BSED). The program is integrated and engaged with its Moscow-based, Center for Resilient Communities (CRC) which elevates faculty and graduate student opportunities through funded research projects.

As an integral part of the College of Art and Architecture (CAA), the program is enriched by its close affiliation with programs in Architecture, Interior Architecture and Design, Art and Design, and Virtual Technology and Design. The college also has a connection with Boise via the College’s Urban Design Center.

This is a 9-month position that is key to the instructional aspects of the Landscape Architecture program’s undergraduate and graduate degrees offered. The appointment will be for the academic year and will begin August 14.
